Characteristics of Nylon :

  1. heat resistance
  2. dry/wet service capability
  3. fatique resistance
  4. used in non-lubricated operation
  5. noise dampening
  6. electrical insulator
  7. chemical resistance and lastly mach inability

It has similar mechanical properties to Teflon and Dacron, makes it ideal material for synthetic vascular graft.

Limitations : It doesn’t have a level of thrombogenicity as low as Teflon and Dacron (14)

Way to overcome : The nylon graft will undergo impregnation to allow it to be bonded with substance that will reduce its thrombocity properties
